STILL HAVEN'T SEEN AVATAR...

I want to love stuff. I want to be more enthusiastic in the new year. Though, despite all the hype and good reviews something tells me I just won't like Avatar. So, I'm faced with a question the great Mick Jones of the Clash asked in 1982... "Should I stay or should I go?"

  1. It was my favorite movie I have seen in a long, long time, but I can definitely see how it wouldn't appeal to a lot of people!

Aside from the setting and some details, the plot is really generic. It is a formula that works, and is incredibly powerful even though the basic premise has been done.

The effects, visuals and music are amazing. Incredibly engaging as I am sure you have heard. For the amazing integration of CG and live action alone I think it is worth seeing!

  2. I thought the story was Meh. Seeing in in IMAX 3D was cool, but it was all about the graphics. So if you are gonna see it make sure it is the IMAX screen, otherwise PASS.

  3. Hello Spider.

I, too, was hestitant to see Avatar. I finally did a few days ago, and I think it definitely has its moments, but its also definitely not as fablous as everyone has said. Agreed, the plot was generic, but almost every film is recycled. I feel like they could have done more to make it better, and also take out a lot to make it less dragged. There were points in the movie that I noticed were basic eye candy, and visually, I think the creatures and environments looked better than the main Aliens themselves. However, their facial expressions were beautiful.

Basically, Avatar felt like basic eye-porn that needed a bit more revising in the storytelling department. :/
I really advise you go see it yourself to understand. That's the only way you'll ever know!
